Spartans Offer Contract To Glenn Presnell

Provides for Games at Home Or Entire Schedule

The Portsmouth Spartans want Glenn Presnell, Tank star, in their backfield this fall. They have mailed him two contracts at Lincoln, Neb., where he is visiting, both conditioned for his acceptance only in case the Tanks do not resume the field this season.

The Spartans want Presnell first for his playing ability. They attempted to stop him last year, saw him stop their plays and then watched while he outpassed Benny Friedman of the Giants and outrun the great "Red" Grange of the Chicago Bears.

In addition, they feel Presnell, who is coach at Russell High, would prove a great drawing card as he is highly popular in Ironton and all of Lawrence County, Russell and Greenup County, Ashland and Huntington.

One contract calls for the full Spartan season while the other calls for the first five home games. The latter was offered in the hope Presnell could see his way clear to accept the plan making it possible for him to play with Portsmouth and maintain his school work at Russell.
